Rick Huseman
Sadly this weekend professional off-road racer Rick Huseman passed away in a plane crash. I've had the pleasure of spending time with Rick both on and off the track during the years of his meteoric rise to champion status. Just a week ago Friday would be the last time I would see Rick when we did some pictures for Dirtsports Magazine. My thoughts are with his family who are also mourning the loss of his brother Jeff and their pilot who all perished in the crash.

Return to North Africa
Another trip to Morocco was requested to prepare for the Dakar rally in January. More images (and video) were produced for our client to be used for press and marketing efforts. A very short amount of time on the ground considering the 30+ hours required to travel to this outpost in the Sahara desert, but worth every minute as the scenery is epic. I can't reveal any images of the actual subject matter I was shooting so here is some other stuff...

Act of Valor
The Bandito Brothers have released a trailer of their highly anticipated feature film "Act of Valor". Looking forward to seeing this one after hearing about the extreme efforts Mouse McCoy and the boys went to get the action sequences that included spending days at sea in a nuclear sub and using active Navy SEALS during live-fire exercises.

Observations from Hong Kong
I'm still trying to shake the jet lag from a project that took me around the planet to the cities of New York, London and Hong Kong.
Hong Kong is an impossibly damp and vertical city as much a part of China as it is an island. Brand new modern high rise buildings of brushed metal and glass are stuffed inches from crumbling concrete monoliths with damp laundry hanging from every open windows for forty stories. In this financial hub of Asia there is shopping everywhere. For the nuveau riche there is Gucci, Prada and YSL stores nearly as numerous as the Starbucks, 7-11, and Pret a Manger's. Thankfully cheap chinese trinkets are also readily available in one of the many narrow street markets that dot the central part of Hong Kong and Kowloon. Ex-pats from every corner of the earth work in offices of financial giants by day and swarm the bars and restaurants at night. Noodles are delicious, noodles with sliced barbecued pork or duck on top are even better. With a population density greater than NYC it is amazing how clean the streets and public areas are. Mass transit is king and the trains and buses swoop the hoards of people effortlessly above and below the city. It was a long way to travel with not a lot of free time to explore so I wait patiently for a chance to return... B.
